Bianca’s Legacy of Change

After making an unforgettable impact as our Communications Lead, Bianca Danielle is moving into a new creative chapter with Rekindle Supplementary School. We’re grateful for everything she has brought to The Agency! Her warmth, insight, and fierce commitment to amplifying the voices of our Agents.

But this isn’t goodbye. Bianca will continue to support us in the background! We’ve just closed recruitment for a new Digital Storyteller role, a position held by an Agency Alumni and soon we’ll be recruiting six new Agency Correspondents. These correspondents, all Alumni themselves, will work across our delivery locations to share the evolving story of The Agency of Change. The next chapter is already being written, and we can’t wait to see where it leads. 💛

Here’s Bianca’s letter:

Leaving The Agency breaks my heart a little. I’ve been so lucky to run communications for a place that’s huge-hearted, championing freedom of expression and always celebrating the brilliance of its Agents. There’s no tokenism or performative gestures here, just real opportunities for expression and change. That’s rare, and I don’t take it lightly.

I officially joined as Communications Lead in May 2024, but my connection with The Agency goes back further. For at least five years, I’ve been a guest speaker hosting sessions with Agents on social media, branding, and marketing. I’ve also been interviewed and filmed for Alumni Agents projects. Working at Contact Theatre on and off over the past decade, I’ve seen The Agency grow from a Manchester and London based initiative to a National programme, currently in six locations. It’s phenomenal how it extends a hand to guide young people and lets them lead. When I was growing up, opportunities like this were rare, so seeing it now gives me real hope for the next generation of creative and activist voices.

This past year, I’ve been able to hear about the full range of Agents ideas to spark change in their communities - projects from hair braiding and swimming to anti-bullying workshops, video games tackling mental health, journeys through grief and cultural festivals. Each one has been a powerful reminder of the hope and energy we carry when we’re young, and how if it’s nurtured it can be profound.

Working alongside Andrew, The Agency National Manager, has shown me the power of bringing your whole self to the table. Meetings and presentations here aren’t just about business, they’re about being seen, valued, and understood for who you are as a multifaceted being. I’m also grateful to have worked with Kristy, the National Coordinator, whose positivity, warmth and tireless work ethic have been a constant light.

If I had to describe my Communications role, I’d say I’ve been an antenna - tuning in to all the creative magic and amplifying it out into the digital world. It’s been incredible to watch everyone’s voices shine and to help more people see that brilliance.

I’ve always been a creative arts kid. I grew up in Moss Side, writing stories and poems about my surroundings, which became scripts, then acting on stage and screen, then teaching theatre here and abroad. Somehow, that turned into selling tickets, managing venues, and marketing gigs. I’ve been lucky to experience so much. But it was never easy. It took finding people who looked like me and mentors who saw the light in me to find my way. It was rare to hear, “Tell me about your idea… let’s make it happen.” Discovering The Agency was a lightbulb moment - finally, people who know how to nurture young, imaginative minds before adulthood forces your hand, quietens your voice. Now there’s a dedicated programme for the next generation to find their creative flow in a space that feels genuine and human.

I’m in a season of change, moving back into a project that’s more hands-on and away from screens, so stepping away from digital comms feels right for me. But I’m glad this isn’t a full goodbye, as I will be staying on as an Agency mentor. This is the perfect way to stay connected, and I’ll always be cheering on The Agency of Change.

Before I sign off, I have to shout out a hidden gem in an Agency territory: Storyhouse in Chester. Visiting there for The Agency National Gathering last year, I felt the creative magic instantly - Benjamin Zephaniah quotes on the walls, a building that invites exploration, and those cobbled streets and artisan shops? Just too cute. Of course, I’m Manchester through and through, our food, drink, events and architecture are second to none!

Thank you for everything, Agency family. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Warmly,

Bianca
